We have now completed three full weeks of school, and things are going great!!! Our kids are so wonderful. It is truly refreshing to see the kids talking and interacting at lunch—and not staring at a phone screen. They are happy and enjoying time with their friends. It reminds me of the old days. : )

Fall Pictures are next Wednesday, September 4th , and Progress Reports will go home Thursday, September 5th . We hope everyone dresses up next week for StuCo 6th Grade Election Week. Please remember the dress code must be followed on these days.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Labor Day Weekend with family and friends. I know we all need some rest and relaxation after these first few hectic weeks.

The Louisiana PTA hosted a Leadership Training on Aug. 24 at Captain Shreve High School, and I had the opportunity to attend along with 1st Vice President Ashley Skweres, 6th Grade Early American Influencer Day Chair Amanda Kirby, and Teacher Appreciation Chair Lindsey Lewis. The training covered a variety of topics including member engagement, grants, fundraising, healthy minds initiative, and student reflections arts program. We are looking for volunteers to help us welcome potential new students to the school for our Stallion Showcase on Thursday, Oct. 3. Stallion Showcase Chair Laura Singletary has started planning a great event that will let potential families know all the wonderful things we do at CMM!

We are also in need of donations for that night, so we can provide dinner for our dedicated staff and teachers that will be working late that day. Hospitality Chair Emily Rice with the help of Crystal Tuey appreciate your donations. For more information on these two volunteer opportunities, please visit the PTSA SignUpGenius webpage.

Show off CMM at the open house for prospective students. Showcase will be 5:30 p.m. October 3! Volunteers are needed to decorate, greet newcomers and direct families at stations around the school. Click on the Sign up Genius below!

Stallions serve: Cards for kids

If your child is looking to serve, they may write inspirational notes of encouragement to kids entering foster care in Louisiana. Inspirational notes help lift the spirits of another kid in a time of overwhelming stress. If your student writes 5 notes, they can receive 1 service credit hour. There will be a drop off for notes in the office and Stallions Serve chair Jen Veluvolu will collect them every Friday. If your child needs a service hour form signed, please leave the form attached to their notes and she will return the form to the box on Monday for your student to pickup. The inspirational notes can be for any age. The student may sign their first name (i.e. Mary) without their school name (CMM) OR sign their school name (CMM), but omit their first name (i.e. Mary).

Stallions Serve is also looking for help watering the school's potted plants! If you child is interested in volunteering before school, please sign up below. Watering will also earn one credit hour. You may drop your student between 7-7:25am (to beat the moving carpool line). They should make their way to the office to obtain the watering supplies. If dropping off, please enter the main parking lot "exit" driveway to get around the carpool line. Remember to use caution because this will be going against traffic leaving the parking lot. Novels for each grade can be ordered through Pay School Central until Sept. 5.

This week: CMM vs. North Desoto will be Thursday at Byrd High School. 7th grade starts at 6 p.m. and 8th grade at 7:15 p.m.

Tickets available on local level. All students get in free so please come support your Stallion Football Team!

First Priority welcomes members

First Priority kicked off this week with a packed interest meeting for anyone wanting to be involved in leadership. If you missed, no worries you can join anytime! The next club meeting is 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, in Ms. Holly Chassion’s classroom (B105). There will be donuts next week as we start the first EPIC cycle.
