I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather!!! We definitely deserve it. Things are getting busy around CMM, especially the next few weeks before Spring Break. Please pay close attention to all announcements—morning, website, JText, and email. All funds collected at the school level will be either on Local Level, or PaySchool Central. These are linked on our website, cmm.caddoschools.org. The deadlines listed on Local Level are final.

Please remember to be courteous and follow all guidelines in carpool. We are having a few issues with unsafe driving. The safety of our students is our top concern, and that is why we have specific guidelines for our carpool. Students should not cross the street or walk through the parking lot at any time—students in Pegasus Parking should walk around the edge on the grass. If you have instructed your child to walk down the sidewalk to meet you on a side street, please know that they will have no supervision once they leave our campus. We are all busy and have somewhere to be, but an extra couple of minutes can help keep everyone safe.

Teacher Appreciation Week is right around the corner! So far, we have collected ~$2,800 from 10% of families. We ask that donations be made by next Tuesday! Please consider contributing. 100% funds raised for TAW will be spent on the 90+ teachers and staff we will celebrate the week before Spring Break! The committee cannot pull this off without the support of our families. Thank you!

Teacher Appreciation Week will be held March 4-8. Lindsey Lewis and her committee are planning an amazing week for ALL faculty and staff members (around 90!). The PTSA is raising funds to cover the cost of daily breakfast, lunch, and gifts/prizes! We need your help to CELEBRATE and thank them for all they do for our children! We ask that you please give to the TAW Donation fund rather than to individual teachers so that our resources can be evenly distributed. We appreciate each contribution. Thank you for your generosity as this is a monumental effort at a school our size!

CADDO MIDDLE MAGNET 7TH GRADE DALLAS ECLIPSE TRIP

We are happy to present for our students a one-day trip to Dallas, Texas, to see the total solar eclipse. The tour has been especially designed for our group and will include a blend of educational and fun experiences. We will depart from the school at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2024, via chartered motorcoach, and will return at approximately 9:00 p.m.

While in Dallas, students will tour AT&T Stadium and experience the total solar eclipse, with accompanying science activities. Also included in the tour will be lunch and dinner, as well as eclipse glasses, and a t-shirt to wear on the trip.

COST: The cost of the tour is $225.00 per student. This price includes EVERYTHING. The only additional money the participants will need is for souvenirs and/or snacks. **Please note, there will be no additional Local Level fees for this event.

The deadline to register is Monday, March 4, 2024. Payments are NOT refundable unless the tour is cancelled. Registration is on a first come/first-served basis and is dependent on filling each bus.

6TH GRADE TRIP TO PEROT MUSEUM, DALLAS

Attention 6th grade parents! Time is running out to reserve your spot for the 6th grade trip to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. A form was sent home with your 6th grader before the break. The trip will take place on Friday, March 22nd during the regular school day. We will be leaving school at approximately 6:30 am and returning at about 6:30 pm. The sixth grade curriculum exposes the students to many of the scientific, natural, and historic exhibits that the Perot Museum offers. As part of this exploration, we will attend the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas, TX. The students will be able to participate in interactive exhibits and expand their knowledge about physics, cells, biology, ecosystems, energy, and space. Be sure to sign up on local level. The cost is $100.

The PTSA would like to thank our volunteers Caffery Brown, Judd Calicaotte, Jamie Knighton, Julia Morrow, Meghan Harris, Ariel Stewart, Celeste St Amant, Brian McCoy, Amber Fleming, Tricia Frierson, Rachel Payne, Alice Sample, Sara Greer, Mary Eileen Grant, Mandy Smith, Whitney Howell, Michelle Harp, Tracy Jones, Holly Johnson, Sandrine Brown, Emily McDonald, Jen Velovolu, Amy Dunman, Anne Furlong, Seema Warar, Sana Art, Anne Marie Schoonover, and Emily Rice for providing our faculty and staff a delicious Mardi Gras lunch on Tuesday. Also, thank you Canes for donating lemonade and tea.

Every year, a coalition of community partners comes together to remember the victims of the Holocaust. This year's event will be held on May 5 at LSUS.

At this event, students are given the opportunity to participate in the Holocaust Remembrance Literary and Arts Competition. Through this endeavor, students learn about the Holocaust and produce poems, stories, essays, visual art, or musical compositions.

Many of our CMM students entered the contests last year and won prizes. We hope to see many more of your talented and thoughtful creations this year.

National Junior Honor Society

Students interested in becoming members can find the full list of requirements on the CMM website. Students are expected to have spent time in service to the community. We will accept applications from 6th and 7th grade students, who are not current members, after the end of the third nine weeks. The application will be posted on the CMM website once 3rd nine weeks grades are finalized. The sponsors do not have a list of available service opportunities.

To be considered for membership in the Caddo Middle Magnet Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society, a student must be a sixth or seventh grader and must meet the requirements listed below.

Meeting these requirements does not guarantee a student membership but will place a student’s name into consideration for the Honor Society Committee’s evaluation.

1. Students must be in the sixth or seventh grade.

2. Students must maintain a minimum of 3.75 cumulative grade point average for the first 3 nine weeks.

3. Students must participate in at least 6 community service activities* from July of 2023 through March of 2024. This is 6 different times of service NOT 6 hours of service. Students need signatures and an email address from the supervisor of the community service. Parent signatures as supervisor or in lieu of supervisor will not be accepted. If a student does not have a Community Service Record Sheet, they should print one from the CMM website.

Congratulations to the CMM Golf A & B teams for placing first in the Querbes tournament earlier this week.

BASEBALL

Calling ALL Stallions!!! CMM baseball is playing IN TOWN on Saturday. These fellas will take on First Baptist at 5 pm and the highly anticipated Calvary game at 7 pm on Saturday at the LSUS baseball fields. Come support your Stallions as they enter the championship weekend!

Stallion Sightings!

On Saturday, three CMM teams competed at the regional Quiz Bowl competition. All three teams sweeped top 3 spots out of 22 competing teams and qualified to advance to the national level in May in Atlanta. Luka Mikaberidze was named as the first place individual competitor (2 years in a row).
